Different Seasons--a novel you can't miss

"A collection of four novellas by the bestselling master, three of which became the basis for the hit films Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption, and Apt Pupil. So varied in tone that 'you have to compare King to Twain, Poe-with a generous dash of Philip Roth and Will Rogers thrown in.' -Los Angeles Times"

Stephen King was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. At university, he majored in literature. When he was seven years old, he had been infatuated with horror movies. Now he is the universally accepted master of the thriller genre and a best-selling novel writer. His works are almost all frightening horror novels .He often writes about real human nature as his theme.I think he is responsible for making horror novels popular.

If you are a fan of Stephen King, you can't miss this novel "Different Seasons". If you haven't read any Stephen King's writings, you can try to read 'Different Seasons'. There are four stories inside. Each story is not long but fascinating.Go for it!

I think the most interesting story in 'Different Seasons' is 'The Shawshank Redemption'. It describes an innocent man who found the way to escape from prison. He spent over 10 years to building a hole from the wall to the sewer underground. Nobody noticed it. He knew the personality of the custodial officer very well. He taught the custodial officer how to evade tax. The custodial officer relied on him and respected him very much. But he could blackmail the custodial officer with this evidence. The custodial officer didn't want to release him from prison even if he saw the evidence of his innocence. He escaped from prison finally. The process is very unexpected. If you want to know it. Read this book as fast as you can.
